Open House: 100th Anniversary

FELLSMERE HISTORICAL CHURCH RECENTLY MARKED ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY.

WILL HOST OPEN HOUSE ON APRIL 28, 2024

The Fellsmere Historical Church at 39 N. Broadway, Fellsmere, held a special 100th Anniversary celebration dinner at Master’s Stables Wedding Barn at 10675 141st Avenue in Fellsmere on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

There were 60 people in attendance. Pastor J.R. Crooks gave the opening remarks and invocation; Rich Votapka presented the history of the church; and former pastor Reverend J.R. Hiott gave the closing remarks and benediction. Linda Votapka, the church music director, led the Fellsmere Historical Church Youth Choir in singing two selections of special music for the occasion.

Construction of the church building was started in 1922. It was completed in April 1924,  and dedicated on April 6, 1924, as the “First Methodist Episcopal Church”. In 1968, it became the Fellsmere United Methodist Church, and in 1994, the “Fellsmere Historical Church” was established. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the church building.

The Fellsmere Historical Church will host an open house for the public on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  All those who wish to see the interior of this beautiful wooden building designed by church trustee, C. E. Nourse, a well-respected carpenter in Fellsmere in 1922, are invited.

Light refreshments will be served to all those who wish to attend.
